"Death is a-comin', it's a one-way road. So loosen the fear and lighten the load."

This lyric is from Jesse's song "The Breeze." His haunting voice and existential subject matter bring something up in me that makes me rock harder than almost any other project I'm involved in. Jesse is my dear brother, and fun fact... My dad's band played at his parents wedding. We even hung out as babies together... I learned this after our circles crossed almost 20 years later at St. Mary's College of Maryland.

Gino and Jesse in Arizona. March 2021

The first time I heard Jesse's baritone voice, we were in the woods in Southern MD. We were with a golden handful of people, all with guitars, sharing songs on a Tuesday. His voice hit me wayyy in the deep. It feels timeless: It's refreshing and timeless.

Somewhere along the way, (2017?) we decided to get our little brothers involved and Dead Pedal was born. Corey is now a certified shredder on guitar. And James' heavy hands on the drums provide the powerful backbone for Dead Pedal's high-energy sound.

Dead Pedal had barely 2 years of  being in relatively close proximity geographically. 2017-2019 we played some shows around Baltimore and wrote and recorded some songs, and cemented our connection as a band and as musical soul family. We've generally been able to get together annually and play a show or two. That pace feels good for now until we can get some momentum and make space for retreating to write and record.

‍Currently, Jesse and Corey live in New Mexico. I live in Baltimore, and James lives in Richmond. It's a rare treat for us all to get together, but the magic never leaves. We intend on playing together forever, whenever it aligns. Our connection really resonates as a band. In a live setting, the dynamics between and among each member feed one another and result in a powerful experience. We really have fun. And grow together. In March 2020 we all went out to Arizona to shoot the music video for "Can't Feel A Thing."
